Arch Diocese of India
Puthur is a small beautiful
natural landscape village
10 kms away from Thrissur
city in kerala State. The
inhabitants of this village
are mostly farmers. Some of
these faithful Christian inhabitants,
five decades ago, approached
Late Mar Thoma Darmo Metropolitan
of Malabar and India, requesting
to build a church for them
to worship. His Grace kindly
granted them permission to
build a church and the foundation
stone was laid by Late Mar
Thoma Darmo Metropolitan on
04-03-1958 and consecrated
on 09-11-1958 in the name
of Mar Beesho. This was the
first Christian Church ever
built in Puthur village.
The church membership grew
consistently within last 5
decades which consequently
made essential to rebuild
the church. The foundation
stone for this new Church
building was laid by H.B.
Mar Aprem Metropolitan of
Malabar and India on 17 -
09- 2006. construction of
the Church started on 01-
06 - 2010. The Consecration
and dedication of this renewed
church will be held on 25th
September 2011 (2nd Sunday
of Eliya) by H. B. Dr. Mar
Aprem Metropolitan and H.G.
Mar Yohannan Yoseph, H.G.
Mar Awgin Kuriakose, the two
Episcopas of Indian Arch Diocese.
The dedication, hard work,
commitment and enthusiasm
of the vicar Fr. C.D. Pauly,
Parish Trustees, Parish council
members, various committee
members, and each and every
one of the parish members
of Mar Beesho Church are much
appreciated in this regard
to make this venture a great
success in the history of
the church of the east in
India.
