His Holiness’ father Andrews, one of the son's of the late Rev. Benyamin, son of Rev. Soro, is from the family of the martyr Mar Dinkha, Bishop of Urmi, Iran. His Holiness’s mother Panna, also from the same family, was highly respected for her faith, pure Christianity and humanitarian feelings. | ||||

Born On 15th Sept he was baptized in St. Koryakos church, on October 25, 1935, in the village Derbendoki from the historical Sub–District of Hareer, where His Holiness was born and where Christianity had flourished in the past. The relics of the-fourth-century churches like Mar Odisho and Mar Bawai still stand. Both Christians and Moslems still believe in the sanctity of Derbendoki relics particularly in the medicinal water spring where from they use water for curing their chronic diseases or ailments, as they consider the water sacred, springing from under a hill on the top of which the relics of an old Assyrian Monastery can be seen. Here in the church of martyr Mar Koryakus the baby was christened and named KHANANIA, Mercy of God.
